US election updates: Georgia hand recount reaffirms Joe Biden's victory over Donald Trump - ABC News

So what's the Trump campaign's strategy now?

Do you get the impression that Trump's team genuinely expects to get anywhere with the law suits, or are they delaying tactics to create disruption? One state, if close, I could undrstand, but this seems silly.

It's an interesting question, MM. I won't pretend to have a particular insight into the hive mind of the Trump campaign, but we are seeing a lot of these lawsuits being dismissed relatively quickly, and there are suggestions from people much closer to the campaign that yep, it's more about delaying the inevitable at this point.

Reuters is reporting that the Trump campaign pivoting to a new strategy to persuade Republican state legislators to intervene in battleground states won by Joe Biden.

They cite three sources confirming this strategy. A senior Trump campaign official told Reuters the plan was to cast enough doubt on the results in crucial states to persuade Republican legislators to step in and appoint their own slates of electors.

That's what a lot of these claims about voter fraud — without evidence — are designed to do: cast doubt.

The Trump campaign has already asked a judge in Pennsylvania, where Biden won by 82,000 votes, to declare Trump the winner and said its Republican-controlled legislature should choose the state's 20 electoral college voters.

While legal experts see it mostly as a last-ditch attempt unlikely to succeed, they say the strategy represents an unprecedented assault on the country's democratic institutions by a sitting president. One told the Associated Press:

"It's very concerning that some Republicans apparently can’t fathom the possibility that they legitimately lost this election," said Joshua Douglas, a law professor at the University of Kentucky who researches and teaches election law.
"We depend on democratic norms, including that the losers graciously accept defeat.

"That seems to be breaking down."
