King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn ‘releases’ his mistress from jail - NEWS.com.au

Maha Vajiralongkorn, the playboy king of Thailand, has allegedly pardoned his former concubine and flown her to Germany to join his “harem”, a year after he threw her in jail.

The 68-year-old monarch has reportedly spent the majority of the COVID-19 pandemic in the European nation with an entourage of “sex soldiers” assembled as a military unit at the hotel.

The whereabouts of former royal bodyguard Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi – who was appointed “royal consort” last year – have been unknown for some time.

At the time, the king was reported to have stripped the 35-year-old former army nurse of her noble and military titles and sent her to prison, following accusations of “disloyalty”.

It would appear he’s had a change of heart, however, and is thought to have granted her a royal reprieve and flown her to Munich Airport, where he personally picked up.

Journalist and regional expert Andrew MacGregor Marshall said Sineenat had been in a women’s prison in Bangkok, though on Friday was released from jail and taken straight to the airport.

She’s reported to have joined the King and his “harem” at the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in the German resort town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where the monarch has allegedly booked an entire floor that includes a “pleasure room” and is filled with Thai “treasures and antiques”.

According to Germany’s Bild magazine, hotel workers are forbidden from visiting the floor because of the King’s diplomatic immunity.

The ruler’s peccadillos and eccentricities have long been the subject of media reports.

Among them are his huge back tattoo revealed when he was pictured saluting on a runway wearing jeans and sandals; the time he was photographed shopping in Germany in a tank top; the birthday party he threw his beloved poodle Foo Foo at which his third wife, Princess Srirasmi, appeared topless; the fact Foo Foo was also named an Air Chief Marshall in the Thai air force.

His brutal take-down of Sineenat was no different, making headlines after he deemed his royal consort “ungrateful” and accused her of behaving “in ways unbecoming of her title”.

“She is also not content with the title bestowed upon her, doing everything to rise the level of the queen,” an official statement at the time read.

Sineenat, who was Major General of the Thai Royal Air Force, was the first woman in nearly a century to receive the title of “Chao Khun Phra” (Royal Noble Consort), when the King bestowed it upon her on his 67th birthday.
